Setsuo Hamanaka
Yokohama, Japan
Besides painting aggressive marine wildlife species, I also love to paint calm waterfront landscapes with trees closing from behind. There is a Japanese word "Uotsuki-rin" which means fish-nursing woods. As a part of the global circulation of water, a healthy forest keeps rain in it's bosom and makes rich spring water for all living things. Each tree also absorbs CO2 into its body and makes oxygen which we depend upon. Not only forests in mountains and inlands but also mangrove jungles, kelp forests and even coral reefs are all essential to our mother nature. But first of all, I want to make people calm and relaxed with my waterfront paintings.

I am but an ordinary person, who has been deeply and gratefully reminiscing about my beloved mentor, Yuan-Dao Bodhisattva, the second Patriarch of Buddhist Forshang.
I will strive earnestly with my whole life to accomplish "Greatness"-for no reason but let everyone realize that my beloved mentor is the "Ultimate."
Lee Sun-Don's Self-Epitaph
"The man, resting inside this urn, wishes you to understand the inconceivable and compassionate vows of his beloved mentor."
