Detailed Jurying Criteria
This is the criteria jurors will apply when reviewing your work and website.
General -
Career stage, strength of reputation, and apparent financial success are not to be considered in jurying. Commitment to the furthering of art appreciation and sharing knowledge with others may be considered as a factor.
The following three categories will each be scored separately and given equal weight:
Creativity and Esthetics -
To be based mainly on the landscape work present on the web site. Other work may be considered, but given less weight. Factors to consider include- use of color and value, eliciting of mood or emotional response, compositional strength, and uniqueness of subject matter. A broad range of media and styles should be equally respected.
Technical Mastery -
To be based mainly on the landscape work present on the web site. Other work may be considered, but given less weight. Technical proficiency with chosen medium(s) should be apparent.
Web Site Quality-
• Professional appearance, whether refined, informal, or playful.
• Good navigation within site.
• Work is presented professionally- clear photography or scanning, images optimized for reasonably fast download.
• Content that instructs in technique and/or art appreciation is a plus.
• Content that shares the artist's philosophy or other personal insights is a plus.
• Contact info is easy to find.
• Site functions properly. (If site has problems, try another browser. If it works well only on certain browsers, do not downgrade score, but include a note with your jury response to be passed on to the applicant noting problem and browser name and version.)
Each category will be scored as follows:
0 = substandard
1 = adequate
2 = good
3 = excellent
Maximum possible score from each juror is 9. A total of 18 (3 jurors times an average of 6 points) is needed for acceptance to membership.
